The Hendricks County Amateur Radio Society will participate in the ARRL Field Day exercise once again this year on Saturday, June 28, through Sunday, June 29.

The HCARS Field Day site will be set up at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds and Convention Center located at Old US 36 and CR 200E on the east side of Danville. The station will be set up near the grandstands on the north side of the complex.

The Field Day Committee will meet at Flap Jacks Restaurant at US 36 and CR 525E (Prestwick) in Avon for breakfast at 8:00am on Saturday. After breakfast, they will proceed to the site at around 9:00am to begin setting up the stations.

Field Day operations will begin at 2:00pm on Saturday.

Everyone is welcome to stop by at any time during the weekend to see how we are set up, operate the radios, or just hang out with your amateur radio friends.

At approximately, 3:00pm on Saturday, W9RXR will give a short educational presentation about APRS. This will be for bonus points towards our Field Day score. I will demonstrate how to send and receive APRS beacons, talk about what kind of equipment is necessary to work APRS, and demonstrate two different ARPS mapping programs with live data.

Peggy McNary N9QT is handling the food again this year and she promises we will have plenty to eat.

See you at Field Day!
